Windward Islands Research & Education Foundation (WINDREF)

Safeguarding Telescope’s coastline using a living shoreline approach
(short name – Telescope’s Living Shoreline — TLS) Project

Request for Expression of Interest

Development of Case Study and Video Reporting Telescope Living Shoreline
at Telescope, St Andrew, Grenada

Background

The Windward Islands Research & Education Foundation (WINDREF), in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), is implementing the “Safeguarding Telescope’s Coastline Using a Living Shoreline Approach” project, commonly referred to as the Telescope Living Shoreline (TLS) Project. This initiative is funded by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) under its Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) Facility.

The project’s main objective is to stabilise Telescope’s rapidly eroding shoreline, which will help mitigate the effects of storm surge, sea-level rise, and coastal flooding in the wider Grenville Bay Area. The project will address the adverse environmental impacts affecting the Telescope area, a coastal village situated north of Grenville in the parish of St Andrew. The consultant will be responsible for capturing and showcasing the work done, highlighting the effects of the project on the local community and environment.

Objectives

The primary objective of this consultancy is to procure professional videography services to document the progress and impact of the Telescope Living Shoreline (TLS) Project. The consultant will be expected to:

  1. Produce photography and video content with the Demographic Studies Consultant for the case studies showcasing the experiences, insights, and stories of key stakeholders and beneficiaries of the TLS project
  2. Capture and record baseline data related to the project, including environmental and community conditions before and during the intervention, to highlight the project’s impact over time
  3. Produce a video documentary that chronicles the entire timeline of the TLS project, emphasising its outcomes, lessons learned, and future implications. The documentary will include all relevant video footage, photography, and narrative elements necessary to support the case study and other project activities

Qualifications and experience Consultant

The selected videographer must meet the following qualifications and competencies:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field, or at least 5 years of professional experience in video production and photography
  • Proven capacity and access to equipment capable of capturing high-resolution videos and photos that meet the project’s technical and content requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in video production and photography projects, with a focus on storytelling and documentary-style reporting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of video formatting, file conversions, and post-production processes, including video editing, colour grading, sound design, and other technical aspects
  • Experience working on environmental projects involving videography and photography is considered an advantage

Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI)

Interested firms and individuals can request the full scope of work and are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Dr Trevor Noel and Carol Forbes using the email addresses provided below no later than 10 January 2025, to be considered.
