At the Head Office of the Ministerial Complex in Grenada, the Cuban Ambassador Ivette Martínez Leyva representing the Minister of Culture of Cuba, and Senator Adrian Thomas, Minister of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture of Grenada, signed the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the 2 countries.
In her words of thanks, the diplomat emphasised the commitment to materialise a cooperation that implies a joint artistic training, which develops in citizens the necessary capacities to exercise or appreciate visual arts, music, dance and literature.
For his part, Minister Thomas welcomed the signing of the agreement and said that he would work for its immediate implementation. He mentioned that Cuba is a victim of a fierce blockade and unjustly remains on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, which has not impeded its professional development but materially limits artistic expressions in all its sectors. He added that the bilateral agreement places the 2 countries in better conditions to project cultural exchanges and events.
The Cultural Cooperation Agreement will have as its main benefactors the citizens of Grenada and Cuba, who will enrich their cultural heritage and enjoy the artistic benefits of these islands.
The Minister of Culture was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Desiree Stephen, Head of Cultural Affairs Kelvin Jacob, and Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kwuamina Brizan Arnaud. The ambassador was accompanied by the Consul of Cuba, Alexander Quintana Cañete.
