It is with profound sadness that St George’s University (SGU) announces the devastating news of the passing of Liam Fisher, a Term 2 School of Medicine student, who had been reported missing on the night of Monday, 11 September 2023.

Out of respect for the privacy of the student’s immediate family, we are not releasing further information at this time.

SGU extends its deep gratitude to the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) for their exemplary leadership in conducting the search and investigation, in close collaboration with SGU’s Department of Public Safety (DPS). We are equally appreciative of the unwavering dedication shown by our students, faculty, and staff volunteers, along with the invaluable support provided by the Grenada Hash House Harriers and the local community members.

SGU is offering support and counselling services to all members of the campus community who may have been affected by this tragic event.

Our sincerest condolences go out to Liam’s family, friends, teachers, and classmates as they navigate this challenging period. Please remember this student and their family in your thoughts and prayers.

Very sad.. he was also known by the cruising community, and had done the Saturday Hash when he went missing. So young and so much to give…

Rest in peace Liam! The way we Drs. Silverman will remember Liam: Not for being the best student in the class at Starmed premedical education programs, who attended all classes despite his busy schedule and enthusiastically participated in all individual and group activities but for his amazing personality, his passion for becoming the best doctor who would serve the remote areas of Canada, his generosity and creativity, his support to his pears and us during such challenging time during the pandemic, his dedication to fundraise for research. He kept updating us about his amazing journey at SGU where he was featured in many instances and we were looking to a brilliant career. He left too early but will always be remembered for what he was: a mensch! Amazing testimonial of Liam and his best friend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0Jjn4desgk
