- Security guard charged on 18 counts of sexually related offences with a female minor
- No bail granted
Cyril Joseph, a 59-year-old security guard of La Sagesse, St David appeared before the magistrate at the St George’s Criminal Court today Wednesday, 5 June 2019 on 18 counts of sexually related offences ranging from indecent assault to sexual intercourse.
Reports are that he engaged in touching different parts of the body, had oral sex with, as well as sexual intercourse with a female minor under the age of 13, between the years 2015 and 2018. He was charged after a report was made in May 2019.
Police and the relevant child protection agencies conducted the preliminary investigation, which resulted in Joseph being arrested and charged. Police are continuing investigations into the matter.
No bail was granted, and he was remanded to prison. The security guard who did not have the services of a lawyer will return to Court in July.
A couple days ago I was talking to a coworker about child abuse. Many adults have been sexually abused by family members and people in the villages. This isn’t a new trend of men having intercourse with children but I’m glad to hear that this epidemic is being taken care of now. Lock them up without bail and send a strict message to other offenders. Watch out also for teenagers who are prone to in-appropriately touching little girls and boys. Parents, especially mothers teach your sons to be virtuous; showing respect to women and young girls and not having sex with little girls to satisfy their sexual longings and hopefully we’ll have a society where young people grow up with good self esteem.
Don’t commit a crime in Grenada because the law is the law. Great work NO bail for this man.
In Trinidad, we might see someone with the same offence out on bail asking to stay away from the minor. These men need to be behind bars indefinitely after scarring children. Put him on the sexual offense Register list if you have one.
My mother is Grenadian, I grew up there as a child and we did not have these monsters around.
Jail him and throw away the key.
