“We are proud to be one of the countries that ratified the Paris Agreement when it opened for signature on 22 April 2016,” said Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Elvin Nimrod.

Heads of State and Governments across the world, gathered at Marrakech, continue to deliver national statements on the second of the 3–day high-level meeting of the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-22), popularly known as global climate summit began.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Elvin Nimrod delivered Grenada’s National Statement and highlighted the government’s commitment to combat the effects of climate change. “We have submitted our Nationally Determined Contributions and we have initiated adaptation responses at the national and community levels, consistent with our draft National Adaptation Plan. We have ensured that these are all in line with national development priorities, as expressed in our 2030 National Sustainable Development Plan” he said.

Minister Nimrod reiterated the call for global assistance in the form of financial and technical resources, to enable small islands like Grenada to successfully combat the effects climate change.

Minster Nimrod, who heads Grenada’s delegation, will attend various High-Level Events held at COP-22 and is accompanied by officials from Grenada’s National Climate Change Committee.
