Local Grenada charity, reachwithin.org, is inviting runners, of all abilities, to register for #RunForGrenada2016. The three-part run takes place on Universal Children’s Day, Sunday, 20 November 2016, and incorporates a Marathon, a 10k run and the Last Mile Fun Run and is raising funds through Crowdrise page: crowdrise.com/runforgrenada2016.

“This is our third year hosting Run For Grenada, a great opportunity for anyone, with a passion for running and cares about the welfare of the youth of Grenada, to help make a difference,” says Karen Lawson, founder of reachwithin.org.

“This years run coincides with Universal Children’s Day established to initiate action to benefit and promote the welfare of the world’s children. Our aims, for #RunForGrenada2016, is to keep conversations around Grenada’s most vulnerable youth on the public agenda, in particular children living in residential care and the challenges faced when transitioning out of the care system.”

“Last year’s run surpassed all our expectations, not only did we accomplish our fundraising goals but we also welcomed Hollywood movie star, Brandon Jay MacLaren. He was so enthused by our campaign he flew into Grenada to take part, such a thrill for a tiny charity. His love for Grenada and his passion for Grenada’s youth shone through and helped to bring much needed attention to our cause.”

About #RunForGrenada2016

The Marathon segment of #RunForGrenada2016 will follow the West coast of the island from the town of St George’s, the 10k run will set off fom the town of Victoria and the Last Mile Fun Run from the Petite Anse Bridge in St Patrick. Each run will end at the Petite Anse Hotel in St Patrick. All participants will receive a branded t-shirt, water, lunch, and have access to free transport.

Following the run, participants and volunteers will enjoy a delicious lunch, entertainment by a surprise local celebrity, and will be awarded prizes. There will be the use of the pool at the Petite Anse Hotel as well as a gorgeous beach just a few steps away.

How To Register or Donate To #RunForGrenada2016

To register for any one of the three runs please email: [email protected] or WhatsApp: 1 473 420 7593. Registration fee is EC$30 and must be paid in person on or before Monday, 14 November 2016. Lunch will be provided to registered participants only. To donate and find out more about #RunForGrenada2016 visit crowdrise.com/runforgrenada2016.

reachwithin.org thanks the following sponsors whose very generous support will help make #RunForGrenada2016 possible. Petite Anse Hotel, Calabash Boutique Hotel, Laluna Hotel, St George’s University, GTC Radio, Mocha Spoke and Tri De Spice. More valuable support is needed — however small, from the local community and global diaspora — to help us to continue to support vulnerable youth across Grenada.
