Nexa Credit Union, in partnership with the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT), officially launched the Nexa–GUT National Primary Schools Games 2026 on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, marking the 3rd consecutive year of this impactful collaboration dedicated to youth development, education and school pride.

The launch brought together management and staff of Nexa, GUT executives and members, the Games Director and student athletes, demonstrating strong stakeholder support for an initiative that continues to play a vital role in the holistic development of primary school students across Grenada.

Since its inception, the games have become a major fixture on the national sporting calendar, promoting teamwork, discipline, confidence, and healthy competition while providing young athletes with a platform to develop as athletes and young professionals.

Speaking at the launch, Retesha Smith–Boyd, General Manager of Nexa Credit Union, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to people-centred and community-driven development: “Youth education and development is part of our community initiative because, as a cooperative, it is our mandate. What we live by is ‘People Helping People’. We are not doing this for immediate returns, but for the long-term sustainability of our people, old, young, and everything in between.”

The GUT expressed sincere appreciation for Nexa’s continued investment in the programme. Jude Bartholomew, President General of the GUT, stated: “I want to express my gratitude and deepest appreciation to Nexa Credit Union for the sum of $110,000.”

As the partnership enters its 3rd year, both Nexa and the GUT reaffirm their shared commitment to using sport as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, character building, and national development.
