An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Officer (Natural Resources Management) for a Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA)-funded project that will enhance the climate resilience of coastal communities in the Grenville Bay area, St Andrew, Grenada, through a series of targeted, complementary and innovative nature-based interventions which will provide significant social, environmental and economic benefits to the community. The position is approximately 2.5 years in duration, is located in Grenada, and is full-time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice and input in the preparation of tender and scoping documents for contracted works and consultancies related to biodiversity and ecosystem project deliverables/works.
- Support the administration and supervision of biodiversity and ecosystem-related contracts/consultancies.
- Provides advice on the acceptability of biodiversity and ecosystem project deliverables and whether they are in accordance to agreed scope and quality standards as per contracts.
- Support the implementation of the project’s field activities in close collaboration with coral lab and plant nursery teams.
- Coordinate multiple tasks or provide support to multiple workstreams in a timely manner and with attention to detail.
- Provide input and support the development of status updates and project technical progress reports.
- May assist with program budget preparation, monitoring and in developing financials statements and other related reports.
- Support the planning and logistics for project events such as trainings, meetings, consultations etc.
- Organize and participate in presentations and field trips, and assist outreach, trainings etc.
- Support the development of communications such as website content and social media posts.
- Assist with the project’s public awareness activities.
- Responsibility for planning, preparing and reporting project monitoring & evaluation (M&E) activity reports;
- Lead and Manage project M&E instrument and process;
- Creation of project M&E Plan
- Support the Project Manager in other tasks of the project as required.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Associate Degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and 3 years’ experience in marine biology, conservation science, natural resource management or similar field.
- Relationship building experience to work closely with a variety of partners.
- Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
- Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and guide activities.
- Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames.
- Experience with communication via written, spoken and graphical means in English.
- Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
- Experience with posting to social media platforms.
- Experience in developing and conducting trainings.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel, work beyond typical office hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed per project demands.

Key Responsibilities:
- Answering all Project Manager (PM) telephone calls during business hours and taking messages as required, also responding to routine phone and written requests;
- Maintaining the PM diary continuously;
- Coordinating priorities and meetings, managing schedules, booking appointments and business travel arrangements including preparing detailed travel itineraries;
- Maintaining records for the project;
- Work processing and creating presentations involving the sustained use of technical, business terminology and requiring a detailed knowledge of the company, project, and procedures directed by the PM using a variety of software packages;
- Filing and organizing activity as instructed by the PM;
- Organizing meetings at the PM’s request;
- Composing correspondence that requires sound knowledge of project activity and practices;
- Maintaining confidential records and preparing related reports;
- Carrying out routine administrative tasks such as arranging both internal/external meetings and appointments;
- Required to take minutes at PM Committee meetings;
- Travel – As required (10%); and
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Secondary School Graduate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience dealing with senior executives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proven ability managing calendars.
- Use independent judgment to determine course of action required to perform assignments.
- Detail-oriented, extremely organized and structured.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Work independently with little direction.
The positions are located at WINDREF on the St George’s University campus in Grenada, West Indies. Remuneration is competitive and in line with experience and qualifications. Applicants should possess legal means to work in Grenada (e.g., Caribbean Skills Qualification Certificate, work permit).
