  • 2 women in opposing political branded T-shirts seen fighting, face charges of wounding and grievous harm
  • Each on $5,000 bail with 1 surety

9 March 2018 is the date set for 2 women who were seen in a viral video fighting while wearing branded T-shirts of the ruling New National Party (NNP) and the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will go before the Gouyave Magistrate to answer charges of wounding and grievous harm.

Facing the charge of wounding is 29-year old Rena Thomas. Facing the charge of grievous harm is 32-year Princess Chiddick. Both are from Gouyave where the incident occurred.

According to the police, both women reported the matter to the Gouyave Police Station and following an investigation, the two were charged with injuring each other. Thomas is reported to have suffered a broken arm. In the viral video, both women can be seen and heard cursing each other over political differences.

They are each on $5,000 bail with one surety.

This is just one of the many politically related incidents occurring between supporters of the 2 main political parties contesting the 13 March 2018 General Election.

A magistrate in Sauteurs on Thursday sentenced a man to 250 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to assault, by ripping off an NNP branded Tshirt from another man.
