The Sandals Foundation officially handed over a computer lab to the students and teachers of the Blessed Sacrament School at a ceremony held on Thursday of last week.
The donation, complete with 8 computers and a printer, will furnish the school’s new computer lab and the executive office of the administration.
Gary Jones, Principal of the Blessed Sacrament School, expressed gratitude to the Sandals Foundation and foresees positive changes in students’ academic performance. “This computer lab will certainly assist in the overall development of our students,” Mr Jones said. “It will permanently change the way teaching and learning takes place at our institution.”
The computer lab is an extension of the school’s library, which the Sandals Foundation completed earlier this year in collaboration with Hands Across the Sea in an effort to improve literacy levels by creating a space that fosters a love of learning.
Sandals LaSource Hotel Manager, Supratik Guha, reiterated Sandals’ commitment to education and development. “We are happy to be a part of the improvement of school life here at Blessed Sacrament. This computer lab is just one of the many ways that the Sandals Foundation attempts to give students the tools that they need to be successful.”
The Sandals Foundation adopted the Blessed Sacrament School in 2014, and has since completed a number of educational and aesthetic projects to create a receptive learning environment for the students.
Present for the brief ceremony was Hotel Manager of Sandals LaSource Grenada, Mr Supratik Guha; Public Relations Manager at Sandals LaSource, Ms Tahira Carter; District Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Merryl Lord; Managing Director of Streamline Networks, Mr Anderson Stanisclaus; and Principal of the Blessed Sacrament School, Mr Gary Jones, along with his teaching team and a cross section of students.
