In a festive commitment to environmental responsibility, the Rotary Club of Grenada is partnering with EcoDive to bring a bottle-shaped wire-frame receptacle for collecting plastic bottles to Quarantine Point Recreational Park during Christmas at the Point 2025.
This initiative, implemented through the Grenada Green Group (G3), represents the second such installation by EcoDive and owner Rotarian Christine Finney, following the success of the first bin placed near Umbrella’s Beach Bar earlier this year.
“Our marine and coastal spaces are central to life in Grenada, and it’s up to all of us to help protect them,” said Finney, a long-time Rotarian and the driving force behind this initiative. “This receptacle encourages park visitors to visibly and responsibly dispose of plastic waste while building awareness of plastic’s impact on Grenada’s marine and coastal environments. I am grateful that Rotary continues to model eco-conscious celebration and community action in such an engaging way,” she continued.

The receptacle, valued at EC$900 and sponsored entirely by EcoDive, is being donated to the Rotary Club of Grenada at no cost. It will serve as a central visual symbol throughout the 26-night celebration from 30 November 2025 to 4 January 2026. Its placement will encourage patrons to properly dispose of plastics, aligning with Rotary International’s focus area: the environment.
Christmas at the Point already reflects Rotary’s commitment to sustainability with:
- 100% biodegradable packaging at all food and beverage booths
- LED lighting displays for energy efficiency
- Family-friendly low-waste activities such as s’mores stations and craft corners
- A firm commitment to reducing single-use plastics across the park
- Educational environmental experiences hosted by Six Senses La Sagesse, including soap-making from recycled cooking oil and paper recycling workshops
Rotary Club of Grenada’s President Julia Lawrence expressed her support for the initiative, noting, “From the beginning, Christmas at the Point has sought to be joyful, inclusive, and environmentally conscious. This collaboration with EcoDive and the Grenada Green Group not only elevates our sustainability goals but also showcases the kind of leadership we value within Rotary.”
