The Government of Grenada, on 9 April, had the honour to welcome for her first official visit Her Excellency Delcy Rodrîguez, the Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to Grenada.

Her Excellency was accompanied by members of her official delegation and senior government officials.

The visit took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere and served to further strengthen the longstanding relations of friendship and cooperation between Grenada and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Programme of Official Activities

Her Excellency departed Venezuela via Maiquetía International Airport, from where an official air transfer conveyed the President and her delegation to Grenada.

Upon arrival at Maurice Bishop International Airport, Her Excellency was officially received by representatives of the Government of Grenada and a guard of honour by the Commissioner of Police and other members of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).

The Acting President subsequently paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade, Governor-General of Grenada, at the Office of the Governor-General, Point Salines.

An extended working meeting was held at the Parliament of Grenada between Her Excellency and Honourable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, accompanied by ministers appointed at his discretion. Discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, regional issues, and areas of mutual interest.

Bilateral Engagements

During their discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and enhancing cooperation in priority areas, including energy, economic development, climate-smart agriculture, training opportunities and education and cultural exchanges.

The Government and people of Grenada expressed appreciation for the visit and for the continued spirit of solidarity and partnership between both nations. Her Excellency, in turn, conveyed sincere gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Government and people of Grenada.

The official visit concluded on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

I wonder what is the purpose of this trip since President Trump said that he was going to run Venezuela?
