The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council is proud to announce the observance of National Nutrition Week 2026, taking place 21–27 June 2026, under the theme Stronger Together: Fighting Cancer is Everybody’s Business.
This year’s activities aim to raise awareness about the important link between nutrition and cancer prevention, while promoting healthy lifestyles across communities throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The week officially begins on Sunday, 21 June with an Official Declaration by the Honourable Lennox J Andrews, Minister of Agriculture, Lands & Forestry.
A dynamic lineup of activities is planned throughout the week:
Monday — Media and Awareness Campaigns: Public education via social media and national television, including expert discussions on cancer awareness featuring leading healthcare professionals on Beyond the Headlines via Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) Television, 8:30 pm–10 pm.
Tuesday — Food Testing and Meal Display 1 pm–3 pm: Free sampling of nutritious dishes at The Carenage, St George’s, highlighting healthy food choices.
Wednesday — Community Health Fair 9 am–2 pm: A comprehensive health outreach at the Alston George Pavilion, St Mark, offering screenings, nutrition counselling, and wellness services in collaboration with key health partners (Ministry of Health, Grenada Planned Parenthood Association and the SDA Medical Group).
Thursday — Support and Nutrition Education Session 12:30 pm–3 pm: An informative session at the Fish Market Conference Room focusing on diet, support systems, and cancer prevention strategies.
Friday — Label Reading Tours: Guided tours across multiple locations to educate the public on interpreting food labels and making healthier purchasing decisions.
Saturday — Digital Campaign: Online dissemination of healthy video recipes, herbal education, and wellness videos to encourage sustained healthy habits.
National Nutrition Week 2026 underscores the importance of collective action in addressing cancer and improving public health. The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council encourages all citizens to participate in the week’s activities and take proactive steps toward healthier living.
