More than 100 hospitality professionals have successfully completed the Caribbean Supercharged Training Series Level 2, hosted by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) in partnership with the Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association’s Tourism Enhancement Fund.

The programme trained participants in 3 key areas: Supervisory/Management, HACCP (food safety), and The Big Score: Service with a Difference customer service training led by facilitators, Louise John and Suzanne Brooks. Local partners included Point Salines Hotel and True Blue Bay Hotel.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Arlene Friday, GHTA CEO, who welcomed participants, partners, trainers, tourism stakeholders and members of the media. In her remarks, Friday commended graduates for their commitment to learning and professional growth, noting that the training strengthened leadership, food safety and service excellence across the sector. “To the participants: you came eager to learn, you engaged fully, and you committed to change,” Friday said. “That commitment matters — not just to your properties, but to the reputation and future of our whole destination.”

GHTA President Elvis Lewis highlighted the importance of the Tourism Enhancement Fund and encouraged graduates to apply their new skills beyond the classroom. “The certificate you receive today is not the destination; it is a passport to the next phase of your professional and personal growth,” he said.

A motivating statement from CHTAEF Chair Karolyn Troubetzkoy was delivered by Maxine Pierre. Remarks on behalf of Senator the Honourable Adrian Thomas, Minister for Tourism, the Creative Economy and Culture, were delivered by Chief Planning Officer Petra Fraser. “Let this training be the beginning of a new attitude, a new confidence, a new standard, and a new commitment to excellence,” the statement said. “The tourism industry of tomorrow will not be built by buildings alone, beaches alone, or marketing slogans alone. It will be built by trained people, confident people, creative people, disciplined people, and patriotic people who understand that every visitor interaction is an opportunity to lift the image of Grenada.”

The Caribbean Supercharged Training Series Level 2 reflects the shared commitment of CHTAEF, the GHTA ’s Tourism Enhancement Fund, and local partners to strengthening Grenada’s tourism workforce and enhancing the visitor experience.
