The Leo Club of St George’s proudly commemorates its 56th anniversary under the theme “56 Years of Service, Honouring the Past, Serving the Future.”
This milestone reflects more than half a century of unwavering dedication to service, leadership, and community impact. As one of the longest-standing Leo Clubs in the Eastern Caribbean, the club has played a vital role in Grenada’s social development and youth development, carrying forward a tradition of meaningful projects that uplift communities and inspire generations of youth leaders.
Commenting on the club’s 56th anniversary is club president Leo Danika Baptiste (2025-2026). She said, “Serving as President during our 56th year is both a privilege and a responsibility I hold with great pride. As we honour the past and serve the future, I am grateful for the leaders who paved the way and inspired by the members who continue to strengthen our impact. Together, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives we serve.”

To commemorate this significant milestone, the Leo Club of St George’s has organised 2 months of meaningful activities that reflect its commitment to service and community impact. These are as follows:
- Annual Church Service. Members joined in worship and celebration at St George’s Baptist Church in Belmont, giving thanks for 56 years of service and fellowship. We were greatly supported by our parent club, the St George’s Lions, without whom there would be no anniversary to celebrate.
- Service Projects –
- Youth Outreach and Home Visit. Leos visited the Queen Elizabeth Home for Children, spending quality time with the young residents engaging them in games and songs, assisting with hair braiding, and providing motivational talks designed to build character and inspire confidence
- Brighter Futures School Support Initiative. In collaboration with the Grenadian Published Authors Inc., Leos engaged the kindergarten and first grade students at the St George’s Methodist School to engage students in reading. Leos also donated school supplies to aid in the continuance of students’ learning
- Project Beach Clean and Community Development. In March, members will conduct beach cleanups across the parish of St George, reinforcing our dedication to environmental protection and awareness as part of Lions International’s global cause
- Pawsitive Impact. Leos will volunteer with the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), assisting with the care and support of sheltered animals
- Training and Capacity Building:
- Virtual Communications Workshop. On 11 February, the club hosted a virtual communication workshop with Training Facilitator and Communications Strategist Roslyn Douglas
- Project Management On 21 February, the club hosted a project management workshop for members. The workshop was facilitated by Project Management Specialist Johnny Calliste
- Colours Picnic Social. On Saturday, 28, the club will host its anniversary Colours Picnic Social, where members will gather in unity, each wearing a chosen colour and sharing snacks to match
This anniversary’s calendar of activities did not focus on just the external community but also encompassed building our Leo community and its members.

Over the years, the Leo Club of St George’s has been instrumental in advancing community outreach, youth empowerment, hunger relief, and disaster response. Notable initiatives include the Back-to-School Supplies Drive, Annual World Cleanup Day coastal cleanups, Christmas food hamper distributions for vulnerable families, youth leadership workshops, drug prevention programs, and the beautification of the Sendall Tunnel.
In its 56 years of existence, the club has nurtured generations of young leaders, many of whom now serve as prominent figures in Grenada’s business and community sectors. As the club celebrates this milestone under the theme “56 Years of Service, Honouring the Past, Serving the Future,” it remains steadfast in its mission to empower youth and address the evolving needs of Grenada’s communities — ensuring that the spirit of service continues to thrive for years to come.
