The Grenada Airports Authority advises the general public that a Full-Scale Emergency Preparedness Exercise, code-named Operation “Guardian Rescue” will be conducted at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) on Friday, 5 December 2025, from 9 am to 11 am.
During this period, the airport will be closed, and access will be restricted.
This exercise is a mandatory aviation safety requirement designed to test and strengthen the airport’s emergency response capabilities in collaboration with national emergency responders and key partner agencies.
Please be advised:
- This is only an exercise
- Passengers must show proof of travel for access to the airport
- There is no need for alarm or panic
- You may observe emergency vehicles, flashing lights, smoke, sirens, and increased activity around the airport and its perimeter during the drill
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) mandates that safety training be conducted periodically to ensure airports are prepared for real-life aircraft emergencies.
The GAA apologises for any inconvenience resulting from this exercise.
