  • Andrew Holness was re-elected Prime Minister of Jamaica on 3 September
  • Emmalin Pierre told Dr Holness that the NNP and the JLP share a deep and unbreakable bond in history

Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and Opposition Leader Emmalin Pierre have sent congratulatory messages to Dr Andrew Holness, who was re-elected as Prime Minister of Jamaica on 3 September 2025.

Prime Minister Mitchell also sent a congratulatory message to Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on his re-election as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The Guyana election was held on 1 September.

In his message, Prime Minister Mitchell said their electoral victories reflect the confidence of their citizens in their leadership and vision for national development. A news release from the Government Information Service (GIS) said Prime Minister Mitchell expressed optimism for continued progress under their stewardship. “Grenada looks forward to deepening collaboration with Guyana and Jamaica as we work together to build a resilient, inclusive and sustainable Caribbean region. Strengthening regional unity and addressing shared challenges remains vital to our collective success.”

The release said that Mitchell reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to regional cooperation, and emphasised the importance of Caricom solidarity in advancing prosperity across the region, and that “The Government of Grenada wishes both leaders every success in their new terms.”

In her congratulatory message to Dr Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Pierre said, “This decisive mandate reflects the strong confidence the people of Jamaica have in your leadership, vision, and steadfast commitment to progress. It stands as a testament to the trust placed in your continued efforts to drive development, strengthen governance, and secure a brighter future for all Jamaicans.”

Posted on her Facebook page, Pierre told Dr Holness that the New National Party (NNP) and the JLP share a deep and unbreakable bond in history. “For this reason, your success is also a moment of pride and celebration for us in the NNP. We extend our warmest best wishes as you continue to lead with dedication and purpose, not only for Jamaica but also as a beacon of progress within the wider Caribbean region.”
