Grenada and Brazil have signed a technical cooperation agreement, which Agriculture Minister Lennox Andrews said lays the foundation for greater food security, environmental protection and economic independence.
On 15 August 2025, Minister Andrews and Brazil’s Deputy Executive Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Cleber Soares, officially signed the technical cooperation agreement (TCA), which focuses on boosting productivity, environmental sustainability, and profitability in agriculture.
A release posted on the Ministry of Agriculture Facebook page said that while Brazil’s agricultural sector serves as a model of innovation and sustainability — as the country is one of the top exporters of agricultural produce — Soares described the signing as a commitment to long-term cooperation and mutual progress.
The Facebook post said that the TCA covers several areas, including: technology transfer, research collaboration, capacity building, livestock, increased agricultural production, technical support and initiatives to enhance climate resilience and productivity in Grenada’s agriculture sector.
Witnessing the signing were department heads, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Climate Resilience, The Environment & Renewable Energy — Titus Antoine and Aria St Louis. The Brazilian delegation, led by Soares, included Priscila Rech Moser, Agricultural Attaché and Marcel Moreira, Assistant Secretary of Trade and International Relations.
The ministry said that this agreement marks a new chapter in Brazil–Grenada bilateral relations and reinforces both countries’ shared commitment to sustainable agricultural development, regional cooperation, and food security.
