Ingrid Jackson is Grenada’s UN permanent representative

Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Andall has disclosed that Ingrid Jackson will become Grenada’s new United Nations (UN) Permanent Representative.

Jackson contested the St George’s North-West seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2008 General Elections, and later became Grenada’s Alternate Representative to the Organisation of American States (OAS).

Without providing details as to her official starting date, Andall answered a text message about Che Phillip’s resignation, saying that Jackson is the designated person to replace Phillip. Phillip presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres in June 2023. He was one of several diplomats announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Andall in March 2023 after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over the administration of the country having won the June 2022 General Election.

Press Secretary Neila Ettienne confirmed that Phillip is no longer Grenada’s UN Permanent Representative. “I can confirm that he has resigned from his position and will be replaced. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will confirm his replacement,” Ettienne responded when asked to confirm Phillip had reportedly resigned from his post since March/April 2025.

At the time of his announcement in 2023, Andall said that each of the diplomats is on an individual contract with the government. “Most of the appointments are for 2 years or a 3-year period; they vary based on individual circumstances.”

Prior to his appointment, Phillip served as a Foreign Service Officer in the Policy and Research Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, and was responsible for treaties, conventions and affairs concerning the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

A career officer, he first joined the ministry in 2009 and has since worked as the technical officer on matters concerning the United Nations, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Association of Caribbean States, among others. He has also served on several governmental committees and represented Grenada in various senior and technical forums.
