The Grenada Accredited Directors’ Association Inc. (GADA) made history on Monday, 19 May 2025, with its inaugural meeting at the Grenada Trade Centre, marking the first organisation of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean region dedicated to promoting best practices in corporate governance standards among directors of statutory bodies, state-owned enterprises and private sector bodies in Grenada.
The landmark gathering saw the election of GADA’s first official board of directors, replacing the interim leadership led by Director Richard Duncan Acc. Dir., and Interim President Director Denisha Daniel Acc. Dir., who guided the organisation through its establishment phase.
The newly elected Board of Directors comprises:
- President: Isabel Morris
- Vice President: Denisha Daniel
- Secretary: Tiffany Charles
- Treasurer: Richardson Holder
- Justin Hazzard
- Brent Mc Intosh
- Richard Duncan
Members also approved several foundational resolutions, including the adoption of By-Law No. 1 and waiving entrance fees for directors registered by 31 March 2025.
Following the inaugural meeting, a Certificate Presentation Ceremony honoured 24 new directors from statutory bodies and state-owned enterprises who completed the prestigious Directors’ Education and Accreditation Programme (DEAP). This specialised training, delivered by the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) in partnership with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC) from 24–26 March 2025, equips public and private sector leaders with advanced governance skills.
The ceremony featured addresses from distinguished speakers Trevor E Blake, CEO of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange and Janis Riven, faculty member of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada. The Hon. Denis Cornwall, Minister for Finance, delivered the feature address and pledged his unwavering support to the continued improvement of corporate governance throughout Grenada.
“This occasion represents a watershed moment for corporate governance in Grenada’s public institutions,” said Morris. “By formalising our association, we’re creating a platform to elevate directorship practices and strengthen institutional governance across our nation.”
GADA aims to establish best practices in corporate governance, provide ongoing professional development opportunities, and build a network of governance professionals committed to excellence in public sector leadership.
