The National Democratic Congress (NDC) extends its warmest congratulations to the United National Congress (UNC) and incoming Prime Minister-elect Kamla Persad-Bissessar on their decisive and historic victory in Trinidad and Tobago’s general elections held on 28 April 2025.

This landmark result, which sees the UNC securing a commanding majority in the House of Representatives, is a testament to the will of the people and the vibrancy of Trinidad and Tobago’s democracy. We commend the citizens for their active participation and the peaceful conduct of the polls, as well as the Elections and Boundaries Commission for their diligent oversight.

The NDC and all Grenadians recognise the significance of this moment as Persad-Bissessar prepares to return to the office of Prime Minister, becoming the first Indo-Trinidadian to serve twice in the nation’s highest role. The UNC’s campaign, focused on economic renewal, job creation, and social inclusion, has clearly resonated with voters across the country.

We also acknowledge the outgoing administration for its service and the dignified concession by the People’s National Movement (PNM) leader, Dr Keith Rowley, which upholds the democratic tradition of Trinidad and Tobago.

As Trinidad and Tobago embarks on a new chapter, the National Democratic Congress looks forward to continued friendship and cooperation between our parties and nations. We wish Prime Minister-elect Persad-Bissessar and her team every success as they work to address the many challenges ahead and deliver on their commitments to the people. Once again, congratulations to the UNC, Prime Minister-elect Persad-Bissessar, and the people of Trinidad and Tobago on this historic achievement.
