- NDC national executive chaired by Gloria Thomas
- Osbert Charles first to serve in new post of Deputy General Secretary
- NDC aims to win all 15 seats in general election constitutionally due in 2027
The new national executive of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was elected on Sunday, 2 March 2025, at the party’s convention, has a new position and more parliamentarians than elected in its 2023 convention.
Five parliamentarians will serve on the executive for a term of 2 years. The previous executive comprised only Dickon Mitchell and Joseph Andall — Political Leader and Deputy Political Leader, respectively.
However, the delegates at the 2025 convention returned the two and elected a further 3 parliamentarians to serve on the national executive — Gloria Thomas (Chairperson), Andy Williams (General Secretary), and Ron Redhead (Public Relations Officer)
Osbert Charles, who served as a floor member after the 2023 convention, was elected on Sunday to serve as the first Deputy General Secretary of the party. He has become the first person to serve in this post, which was established after the delegates agreed to create the new position by approving a resolution which amended the party’s constitution. Charles received the highest elevation from the 2023 executive to the 2025 executive.
Thomas told the delegates and supporters at the rally held after the convention that there is a lot of work to be done as the aim for the party is to win all 15 seats in the upcoming general election constitutionally due in 2027. “We are now at a new juncture, a critical juncture. I consider this new beginning a defining moment in our quest to harness and enhance our achievement as a party. We therefore must become more targeted in our efforts as we position the party for greater success in the next general election: 15–0!” she said to the applauding crowd at the Beausejour Playing field in the constituency of St George North West. “We must plan to ensure that we meet all supporters and non-supporters at the village level, encouraging and engaging them so they become motivated to become deeply involved in party initiatives,” she added.
