The Grenada Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (GCTVET) has appointed Dr Kemoy Edwards to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada National Training Agency (GNTA).

Dr Edwards is an accomplished higher education professional with extensive experience in teaching, quality assurance, and educational leadership. She taught at the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School from 2001–2004, and T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) from 2007–2021. At TAMCC, she also served as Quality Assurance Officer (2021–2024), Co-Director of the Confucius Classroom (2021–2022) and Chair of the Department of Arts, Humanities and General Studies (2012–2019). She has lectured at The University of the West Indies Global Campus (2016–2024) and is a Chief Examiner at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).

During her tenure at TAMCC, Dr Edwards played a key role in developing, revising and implementing institutional policies, setting quality standards, conducting audits, designing quality enhancement plans, and implementing a culture of cyclical programme reviews in keeping with regional and international best practice. She was instrumental in moving the status of the college from a Recognised Institution with the Grenada National Accreditation Board (GNAB) to a Registered Institution in 2022.

Dr Edwards’ appointment at the NTA commenced on 1 September 2024, and during the past 3 months, she has overseen the implementation of projects such as the Enterprise-Based Training for professionals in the Beauty and Wellness Industry, the Basic Digital Literacy Programme and the Youth in Agriculture Project. Additionally, she has commenced the streamlining and restructuring of internal operations.

Dr Edwards holds a BA in French and Spanish (The University of the West Indies), an MA in Applied Linguistics (University of Massachusetts, Boston), and a Doctorate in Higher Education Management (University of Bath, UK). Other qualifications include certificates in Adult Education and Quality Systems Management. As a member of the International Centre for Higher Education Management, she is dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes in Grenada and the Caribbean. An alumna of the Anglican High School, Dr Edwards’ mantra is “Deeds, not Words.”
