by Grenada Food and Nutrition Council
The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council (GFNC) turned compassion into action, bringing hope and nourishment to vulnerable families in need.
Through a successful fundraising initiative, GFNC assembled 30 food baskets for families struggling with malnutrition. These families, referred by community clinics and doctors, are coping with nutritional deficiencies that have caused poor growth and stunting in children.
In early December, GFNC invited members of the public and the business community to join this meaningful cause. Neighbours, professionals, and businesses — including the Law Office of C Peter David, Jonas Browne & Hubbard G’da Ltd, Ms Rose of Calivigny, and several GFNC staff members — contributed generously to make the initiative a success.
Each basket was packed with care, containing nutritious items such as fresh produce, half a dozen eggs, and non-perishable foods. To spread additional holiday cheer, the baskets also included children’s books and toys, bringing smiles to young faces while providing essential nourishment for families.
The effort complemented GFNC’s ongoing nutritional counselling programmes, while also fostering a spirit of giving and community support during the festive season. GFNC’s holiday initiative is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together. It reflects the heart of the season — a time to give back, share joy, and support those who need it most.
