Dr Myanna Charles, one of 2 senators recently appointed on the advice of Opposition Leader Dr Keith Mitchell to serve in the Upper House of Parliament, said that she is ready and committed to be part of the New National Party’s team who will return the party to govern the affairs of the country.
“I am ready, I am able, and I am committed to putting in the work, drawing from the knowledge and experiences that I have gathered over the years to move our nation forward,” Dr Charles told a meeting of the NNP on Sunday night.
In her debut political address to NNP supporters, Dr Charles who formerly served as Acting Senior Medical Officer and member of the National Covid-19 sub-committee at the Ministry of Health, and whose voice was regularly heard during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, said she is filled with a deep sense of humility, pride and purpose to be part of the political process.
“I feel the readiness to move forward, the readiness to built and the readiness to rise,” she told the hundreds of supporters who attended the zonal meeting held in the St Andrew North-West Constituency.
“We are here to work for you, the people of Grenada,” she said, recognising political leader Dr Keith Mitchell and 6 ladies sitting at the head table.
Acknowledging that the process of returning to governing the country, Dr Charles said she is aware that the process will not be smooth sailing. “It will be remiss of me if I don’t acknowledge that the road ahead is not going to be easy. It is going to be one of challenges but together we can and we will overcome any challenge,” she said.
A 2016 graduate of St George’s University (SGU), Dr Charles is currently a lecturer at the same university.
