Canada visa policy removal based on key criteria

  • Canada’s visa policy decisions made on country-by-country basis
  • Grenada in CAN+ programme which expedites visa processing for experienced travellers
  • Applicants normally demonstrate previous travel to Canada or US in last 10 years

Canada said that removing or instituting visa requirements on the citizens of any State is made after close monitoring and careful review of key criteria that include human rights, bilateral relations, and the overall profile of the country.

“Canada’s visa policy decisions are made on a country-by-country basis in an effort to support travel and tourism while protecting the safety of Canadians. Changes to visa requirements are supported by close monitoring and careful review of key criteria. These criteria include the overall profile of the country, immigration history with Canada, travel documents, security, human rights, and bilateral relations (such as opportunities to increase people-to-people ties, and benefits to the Canadian economy,” was the response from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRC) Canada when asked to explain the exclusion of Grenada as one of the latest 13 countries to the electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) programme.

Travellers seeking air entry clearance through the eTA programme should either hold a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or currently hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa.

“Canada’s visa policy decisions are made on a country-by-country basis in an effort to support travel and tourism. Changes to visa requirements are supported by close monitoring and careful review of key criteria.

We hope to continue on this trend and remain committed to making travel to Canada easier, faster and safer for those wishing to visit, reunite with family and friends, and conduct business. Canada will continue with ongoing, global monitoring to determine when changes to visa requirements may be made,” said the IRC Canada.

Grenada was not included in the eTA programme but instead was placed in the CAN+ programme, which expedites visa processing for experienced travellers from a number of countries, including China, Mexico, and India, with visas issued within a few days and a high approval rate. These applicants normally have to demonstrate that they have previously travelled to Canada or the US in the last 10 years, and often do not need to provide proof of financial support.

A first-time traveller to Canada will still have to get a visa from the relevant Canadian authorities responsible for that State.

Hello, the renewal of passports requires long procedures and also additional requirements, noting that all information is available with the esteemed government. It is only supposed to send old passports with recent photos and passport renewal fees to the nearest consulate of our country, and it performs the necessary procedures and as soon as possible, as the information is sent from the consulate to our country via The e-mail, and then after checking, the passports are sent by express mail to the consulate, and the passports are delivered to their owners. Secondly, the period of five years to renew the passports is very short. Must at last 10’ years and all citizens have business and can’t wait long time with out travel for it
