The Government of Grenada has prepared a short Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Administrative Manual.
The first draft version is now available on the Government website for public review and feedback (http://gov.gd/pdf/EIA%20Administrative%20Doc.pdf). This version was circulated and discussed with stakeholders in November and December of 2022.
The document provides an outline of the administrative process to be followed for the conduct of Environmental Impact Processes in Grenada. It is also intended to inform stakeholders with interest, the public and others about the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) administrative process. Â
The administrative manual will be used by relevant Government of Grenada officers and supports improved understanding of the requirements for the environmental impact assessment report, including public access to information and the factors to be taken into consideration in decision-making.
It also includes guidance on public participation and consultation in the EIA process.
This administrative manual does not have statutory status and will be continuously under review and periodically updated based on the lessons learned with the EIA process locally. The document is companion to the Government of Grenada’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Policy also being drafted at this time.
Requests to receive the draft document can be sent to [email protected]. Feedback and comments are welcome until 4 pm on 30 March 2023.
Comments can be emailed or delivered to Ministry of Climate Resilience, the Environment and Renewable Energy, Ministerial Complex, Grenada.
An updated version of the document will be prepared incorporating feedback and this will be sent for approval and then used to inform the EIA process.
