China MOFCOM Scholarship Announcement 2023/2024

The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) China, in collaboration with the Government of Grenada, is offering scholarships for individuals to pursue studies in masters and doctoral programmes at various universities in China.

ELIGIBILITY: 

Applicants must be:

• a citizen of Grenada
• under the age of 45 (born after 1 September 1978)
• healthy physically and mentally, with a physical examination report issued by a medical practitioner/institution, and not having any disease or situation listed below:
  1. diseases prohibited by Chinese Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Laws and Regulations
  2. other severe chronic diseases like high blood pressure, cardio-cerebrovascular disease, diabetes; psychological diseases; or other infectious diseases, which may harm public health
  3. in a recovery period after major surgery or acute disease attacks
  4. severely physically challenged
  5. pregnancy
• with at least 3 years’ working experience
• a Master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral programme
• incumbents with a relevant educational background or working experience to the applied programme
• public officials of division level and above (or corresponding level) in government sectors, or senior management staff of organisations and enterprises, or academic backbones of universities and research institutions
• neither studying in China nor being admitted to other scholarship programmes provided by Chinese government

Value of the award:

1. Tuition fee, teaching material fee, research and survey fee, allowance of English-taught programme, dissertation guidance fee
2. Free on-campus accommodation
3. Monthly stipend:
   • *36,000RMB (approx. US $5,240) per year
   • *42,000RMB (approx. US $6,110) per year for PhD student
4. One-off resettlement fee of 3,000RMB (approx. US $436) per person
5. Free medical insurance for international student
6. One-time roundtrip international airfare

MOFCOM Scholarship-CSC Programme supports the PhD programme for 3 to 4 years and the Master programme for 2 to 3 years. Length of scholarship will be settled when admission is completed, which accords with the enrolled length of schooling.

Please note: 

• The annual review is compulsory for all students. Those who pass the review may continue to enjoy full scholarships in the next year
• Other expenses shall be managed and used by the Ministry of Commerce or the universities as a whole and shall not be distributed to students. The Ministry of Commerce only provides students with financial support within their enrolled length of schooling. Students who postpone their graduation will not receive the continuing sponsorship

1. Application Form for MOFCOM Scholarship-CSC Programme; Ensure you have both submitted it online (visit www.campuschina.org, click “Scholarship Application for Students”) and print the hard copy

1. Certified copy of highest diploma
2. Certified copy of academic transcripts
3. A Study Plan or Research Proposal, plus a resume, including the educational background and working experience after high school
4. Two recommendation letters, including one from a current employer and one from an academic perspective
5. Certified copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (given online)
6. Certified copy of a valid passport biodata page
7. Police Record: a valid certificate issued by the local public security authority within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application

Each applicant can choose a maximum of THREE preferred universities out of the 26 designated universities. CSC will place each applicant in one university only on the basis of their choices and the universities’ requirements. Please note individual university requests may vary by application requirement and procedure in addition to the above.

Instructions of the CSC Online Application System for MOFCOM Scholarship. Please carefully read the instructions before applying for the scholarship.

Step 1: Visit “CSC Study in China” website and click “Scholarship Application for Students” at http://www.campuschina.org. Register an account through [CREATE AN ACCOUNT] and login with your account.

Step 2: Input Personal Details. Click “Edit Personal Details” and finish inputting personal details by filling in all the information, verifying and saving the information. After the completion of this section, return to the previous page by clicking “Finish” and start filling in your application information.

Step 3: Select the correct “Programme Category.” Please select Programme Category “Type A”. (Only for applicants of MOFCOM Scholarship-CSC Programme)

Step 4: Input the correct Agency Number. Your Agency Number is 00010. (Only for applicants of MOFCOM Scholarship-CSC Programme)

Programme Category and Agency Number are directly matched, both are mandatory for online application. Scholarship-receiving authorities (or application processing authorities) will inform the programme category and agency number to candidates who are qualified for applying. After inputting agency number, the matched agency name will automatically show on the page. As Programme Category and Agency Number are directly matched, application processing authorities will not receive your online application if the programme category or agency number is not correct.

Step 5: Input Application Information

Next, please move on to the section of “Language Proficiency and Study Plan” and upload “Supporting Documents” as requested, then click “Submit” to complete the application. Check each part of your application carefully before submission.

Please make sure that all the information and uploaded documents are valid and accurate.

When applicants of “Type A” application choose the “Preferences of Institutes”, the system will automatically match the available universities according to the selected “Student Category, Preferred teaching language”. With any inquiry concerning the available majors of each university, please visit the following website http://www.campuschina.org/universities/index.html

“Catalog of Discipline Field, First-level Discipline, Specialty” is available from the “Help”, applicants could download the file to identify the relation between Discipline and Major.

Step 6: Once submitted, amendments cannot be made on “Personal Details” and “Application Information.” Before the application is processed by the processing authorities, applicant can revoke the submitted application by clicking “Withdraw” and edit the application. After revoking the application, applicant must submit a second time after re-editing, or the application will not be processed. Once the application is processed, application cannot be revoked.

Step 7: Click “Print the Application Form” and download the form.

Step 8: Submit the scholarship application under the requirements of the dispatching authorities (or application processing agency)

Notes:

• Applications with incorrect Agency Number will not be processed
• Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer (11.0). For applicants using Internet Explorer, please close the “compatible view mode” function ahead of editing
