5 Days to Pure Grenada Music Festival

In 5 days, the curtains open on the first ever Pure Grenada Music Festival that harmonises great music with Grenadian culture. The 6-day festival will have 8 concerts at 5 different locations featuring 32 acts including Grammy winners Joss Stone and Estelle, 40 year-old Reggae band Steel Pulse, 8-time Calypso Monarch Ajamu, Reggae Princess Etana, and the Jab Jab King Tallpree. This inaugural festival is carded for Tuesday 5th to Sunday 10th April, 2016.

The Pure Grenada Music Festival will be a celebration of a wide range of musical genres: Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Folk and World music. Concerts will be set on the backdrop of picturesque locations along the coast and even include a floating concert in the heart of The Carenage — the prettiest harbour in the Caribbean donned with 18th century architecture.

“The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has been quite involved in the steering committee since its commencement in June 2014 and is now a proud sponsor of the festival. We see the great destination marketing potential through this music niche,” said Ms Delysia De Coteau, Marketing Executive at the GTA.

The promotional value of the Pure Grenada Music Festival will be amplified by the GTA’s facilitation of 6 journalists from the USA and the UK. The visiting media will represent companies like the Daily Mail, the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and the Billboard Magazine.

“The press trip will include a visit to Carriacou, food tasting at various restaurants, island tours, and media access to the festival. Their experiences will be then packaged into stories featuring Grenada that can reach more than 2 million readers,” continued Ms. De Coteau.

As a sub-brand of Pure Grenada — the Spice of the Caribbean, the Pure Grenada Music Festival includes an eco-friendly initiative that encourages vendors to use renewable and compostable materials rather than plastic containers. The Festival Village features art installations from upcycled materials, arts & craft by local artisans, and tasty Grenadian food and drinks.
