Two presentations to the Princess Royal Hospital and Top Hill Home in Carriacou have been warmly received to help in the care of patients and residents.

Through its Community Partnership Initiative, GRENLEC responded to a request to improve patient and infant care at the neonatal unit of the Princess Royal Hospital by providing an Infant Radiant Warmer, a portable Suction Machine and a portable Fetal Doppler. The Top Hill Home, a care institution for the elderly in Carriacou received a $15,000 contribution.
The presentations were made as the Company’s twenty-seven team members in Carriacou and Petite Martinique prepared to reflect on the past year and refocus for 2014. Among the noteworthy achievements of 2013 are GRENLEC’s collaborations with various organizations that provided opportunities for the Company to invest nearly four million dollars in communities throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. More than $300,000 went to social services, including the Mt. Gay Mental Hospital, Programme for Adolescent Mothers, Belair Home and other homes for the elderly and children.
In December, the Ministry of Health received $800,000 for equipment, supplies and reagents at the General Hospital Laboratory. Speaking during that presentation, Minister for Health, Dr. the Hon. Clarice Modeste-Curwen commended the Company for its response to the urgent needs of the health services sector and the promise of continued partnership. Interim Chief Executive Officer, Clive Hosten has reiterated GRENLEC’s support to equip the Princess Alice Hospital at Mirabeau with an X-Ray machine. Through a partnership with the Benjamin Foundation, the Company has been working with officials of the Ministry of Health and St. George’s University to finalise plans for the procurement, placement, operation and maintenance of the equipment.
These most recent presentations bring GRENLEC’s investment in healthcare and social services in 2013 to more than $1.1 million dollars. Carriacou and Petite Martinique will again feature strongly, as communities of interest, as GRENLEC’s Community Partnership Initiative Committee reviews project submissions for 2014.
