  • Reduced Covid-19 PCR test fees as of 5 October 2021
  • Covid-19 PCR test at General Hospital laboratory will cost US$50 or EC$135

People requiring a Covid-19 PCR test as part of the entry requirement to the island, as well as those who need it for travelling purposes, will pay reduced fees as of 5 October 2021.

“I am announcing now that the cabinet has agreed to a reduction in the PCR test… a reduction to less than half, it will now be US$50,” Tourism Minister Clarice Modeste said during the weekly Tuesday post-cabinet briefing.

All arriving passengers to Grenada must undergo 48-hours quarantine and a Covid-19 test upon arrival before they are allowed to mingle in the community. If the result is positive the person will continue to remain in quarantine until medically cleared.

Modeste said that several people especially those who travel as a family group have been asking for a reduction in the cost. The Ministry of Health’s PCR test fee will now be US$50 or EC$135, reduced from US$150 or EC$405.

“Perhaps for one individual it is not too bad, but when you have a family, it becomes quite a burden and we have looked at what other islands are doing and we are saying if they can do it and they can succeed in their objective, then we think we can do it too,” she said.

That cost will only be applicable to tests conducted at the Government laboratory at the General Hospital. There are at least 2 private facilities that also offer PCR Covid-19 testing.

Is the the money paid at the General Hospital on the day of testing or do person have to pay online. I am hearing mixed messages.

We went this morning. I had paid online, my husband paid by card (150EC$ each).. If you pay online you skip the cashier queue. The results should be ready by 5pm and will be emailed. The General Hospital is in St George on the hill above the cruise ship dock. There is a flight of steps up, just before the tunnel, or you can take the shuttle bus from the bus station in the centre of town. The staff were pleasant & efficient. Hope this helps!

Beverley, as we will be round ther in a month, how did it all go?
Did you receive in time the results?
How did you manage to pay online and to make a reservation for the test?

        Thank you

Is there a way I can get reimbursed? I literally just paid $150 on Monday, October 4th. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!

Good Morning to you all. I had a question regarding citizens returning to the island of Grenada being unvaccinated. What is the current quarantine time for indidviduals who are unvaccinated, but are Grenadians citizens looking to return to the island?

So when we fly into the airport, we must go over to the hospital to have the test administered? And then we go right into quarentine for at least 48 hours? I was told the PCR test is administered right at the airport. So is the one we get at the airport $150 US per person?

They really do like to make it confusing, like during the briefing she did not confirm if it was US or EC .
I think what they mean here, is the government administered PCR test will
be $50 US, so that should include being tested upon arrival at the airport.
They have no control over the private clinic charges. SAMS has been charging $150 EC for antigen testing FIT FOR LIFE has been charging $300 EC, taking advantage of people who need this test to leave the island.
