“It is with deep sadness, I extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ms Leah Guadeloupe also known as Faithina Guadeloupe, Carriacou’s first recorded Covid related death.

Ms Guadeloupe, aged 99, was one of 11 residents of the Top Hill Senior Citizens Home who have tested positive for the dreaded Covid-19 virus, and succumbed this morning at the Princess Royal Hospital.

Cousin Faithina was well known on the Island and made her due contribution in so many ways.

My fellow Carriacouans and Petite Martiniquans, this reminds us of the dreaded impact of Covid-19 and I implore upon every one of you to spare no efforts in this fight to protect yourself, family and friends.” – Hon. Kindra Maturine-Stewart

      Rebecca,
Shame on you for not even having the respect for the dead or the family. Your comments are sick and heartless and dam right disrespectful.
People just don’t die by age number and because the late woman was almost 100, you said that she didn’t matter. Please show some deep respect as if you were in the situation you would not want read comments like yours.
I am very sure that you have elderly family members so please remove that posting now.
You were very foolish to have even think in that way , then posted it.
Do realise that this late lady’s funeral taken place today. Her family had less than 24 hours to say their goodbyes to their dearly beloved mother , grandmother, etc
Please remember covid19 is not a joke.
Get vaccinated, wear mask and keep safe

But she was right. All deaths are sad, but there is nothing at all disrespectful about pointing out this woman was about to be 100. It’s a relavant fact. A second woman died there today of “Covid related” causes. She was 119! You don’t get to determine who can say what.

The minister missed the boat to urge people to get vaccinated. From day one the government and employers took a combative approach which did not help the cause.

Government should and must remind the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique that their the rights and freedoms are not taken away. During this challenging time we must do our part, even if it appears our rights and freedoms are encroached upon.

Additionally, the cost of a test is outrageously expensive. I can’t understand two steps in St. Vincent the test cost $27 XCD and in Grenada $400.

Cost of a COVID test in Grenada barrier and created a punitive environment. The take it or leave attitude needs to stop.

The lack of collaboration has created a crisis.

The government needs to do more to tone down the hostility.

The honorable should have mentioned the need to get vaccinated
