- Discharged Prisoners Aid Committee will have an appointed lifespan of 12 months
- Responsible for preparing long-term prisoners at Richmond Hill Prison to be reintegrated into society
Retired Deputy Commissioner Raymond Charles has been appointed to serve as the chairman of the Discharged Prisoners Aid Committee (DPAC). He is replacing former Commissioner of Police Nestor Ogilvie who has since returned to Jamaica.
The Committee which includes 5 other persons, will have an appointed lifespan of 12 months. It is responsible for the mental and social preparation of long-term prisoners at Richmond Hill Prison to be reintegrated into society.
They are Pastor Jude Hector, Wayne James – Representative from the Ministry of Social Development, Housing and Community Empowerment, specifically Division of Housing; Johnny Calliste – representing the Ministry of Youth; Vonnie James – representing the Conference of Churches of Grenada; Christopher Stroude – Counsellor and Wendy Chitterman who will be the secretary to the committee.
The appointments are done in accordance with the Prison Act Rule Part 1 which falls under the responsibility of the Ministry for National Security.
Charles retired from the Police Force in 2012 after serving for 36 years.
