The Housing Authority of Grenada (HAG) is undergoing a significant institutional transformation aimed at strengthening governance, improving financial management, modernising systems, and supporting the expansion of national housing initiatives, including Project 500 and other strategic development programmes.
The Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the Finance Manager and General Manager in transforming the Finance Department into a modern, efficient, and strategically driven unit capable of supporting a growing and increasingly complex organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Prepare monthly management accounts and support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and relevant statutory requirements
- Assist in the preparation of Board reports, financial analyses, budget monitoring reports, and cash flow projections
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis of departmental and project budgets
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of financial controls and accounting procedures
- Provide supervision and technical support to finance staff, foster accountability and teamwork within the department, collaborate across operational units, contribute to training and capacity building, and support strategic and operational projects as assigned
- Ensure proper accounting treatment for housing projects, inventory and materials, work-in-progress accounts, soft loan programmes, capital projects, and grants or donor-funded initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within:

Strong understanding of
- IFRS/GAAP
- Management accounting

- Budgeting and financial reporting
STRONG PROFICIENCY
- Microsoft Excel
- Accounting software and financial reporting tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team
- Prepare management accounts and financial analyses
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification (completed or nearing completion), with Experience in Management accounting, Cost accounting, Inventory management, Project accounting and financial modelling.
