- First Under‑17 female athlete from Grenada to medal in 800m and 1,500m
- Second‑fastest 800m time recorded by Grenadian female athlete during 2026 season
- Silver medal brings Brown’s CARIFTA medal tally to 3
Annalisa Brown continued her standout showing at the 2026 CARIFTA Games, capturing the silver medal in the Under‑17 Girls 800 metres and securing her place in Grenadian athletics history. Brown becomes the first Under‑17 female athlete from Grenada to medal in both the 800m and 1,500m at a single staging of the CARIFTA Games since Daniella Abraham achieved the feat at the 1999 Games in Fort‑de‑France, Martinique.
Brown crossed the line in 2:14.40 seconds, a new personal best and the second‑fastest 800m time recorded by a Grenadian female athlete during the 2026 season. The performance represents an upgrade from her bronze medal at the 2024 CARIFTA Games, also held in Grenada. Gold in the event went to Olivia Solomon of Guyana.
The silver medal brings Brown’s CARIFTA medal tally to 3 over the course of her Under‑17 career, underlining her consistency at the regional level across multiple years and disciplines.
A student of Boca Secondary School, Brown is also a member of the Finishline Sports Club, where she is coached by Ronald Charles. Reflecting on her performance, Charles noted the demanding schedule his athlete faced throughout the championships: “I’m very pleased with Anna. It’s not the time we were hoping to get, but she participated in the 4×100m, the 1500m, and the rounds of the 800m. When we assessed her, she did mention slight discomfort, so the legs were a bit tired.”
Despite those challenges, Charles commended Brown for delivering a personal best and securing a podium finish: “Against that backdrop, achieving a new personal best and winning an individual medal on the track is a good look for us.”
Brown is next expected to compete at the 2026 Classic Lighting Communal Invitational, scheduled for 25–26 April at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium.
