The Grenada Meteorological Service is currently monitoring a plume of Saharan Dust.

Synopsis: A significant plume of Saharan dust is beginning to affect the island chain. This dust has been carried by winds from the Sahara Desert in North Africa across the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to continue affecting the island chain. This advisory will come into effect from tomorrow evening/night.

Forecast for the State of Grenada: Satellite observations and model data indicate an increase in Saharan dust concentrations (moderate to potentially dense at times) from tomorrow evening with it continuing into Tuesday and early on Wednesday. As the day progresses on Wednesday these concentrations are expected to decrease.

The Met Office will continue to closely monitor the progress of the dust plume.

Potential Impacts:

  • Reduced Visibility
  • Persons with respiratory illnesses should take precautions.

The next update will be issued if conditions worsen or as necessary.

Am I the only one that thinks this is ironic in that it comes one or two days after news article espousing the quality of Grenada’s air!??

If recent history is any indication, this is not Sahara dust. It is coal fly ash dispersed from air traffic for the purpose of heating and drying the lower atmosphere and the ocean. This is why the sea surface temps have been above average for almost 2 years. I guess Grenada deserves to choke. They keep stupidly signing on with UN global programs designed to destroy the earth in the name of saving it.

If you have seen any RED dust in the past few years, you’ve got better eyes than most people. This dust is grey and so fine it stays airborne for weeks.
