The Rotary Club of Grenada is partnering with the Ministry of Health for its nationwide Vaccination Awareness Initiative in recognition of World Immunisation Week (24–30 April).
This collaborative effort underscores the shared commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring equitable access to life‑saving vaccines for all Grenadians.
World Immunisation Week highlights the global importance of vaccines in preventing disease, saving lives, and building healthier communities. Through this initiative, the Rotary Club of Grenada and the Ministry of Health aim to strengthen public confidence in immunisation by addressing common myths, promoting accurate information, and encouraging families to participate in vaccination programs.
Rotary Club President Julia Lawrence emphasised the importance of vaccination: Vaccination is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect our families, our children, and our nation from preventable diseases. Beyond the science, it is a matter of equity, access, and community responsibility. By raising awareness, we are ensuring that every household understands the importance of immunisation and has the opportunity to safeguard their health.
The campaign will feature community outreach events and media engagements designed to reach households across Grenada. Rotarians and health professionals will work side by side to answer questions, provide resources, and support vaccination drives across the island.
Ministry of Health officials welcomed the collaboration, noting that strong partnerships are essential to achieving national immunisation goals. Together, the Ministry of Health and the Rotary Club of Grenada reaffirm their dedication to protecting children, families, and vulnerable populations from preventable diseases.
This initiative builds on Rotary’s long‑standing global commitment to public health, including its leadership in the fight against polio. Locally, the Rotary Club of Grenada has engaged in several health initiatives over the years including an eye-care programme and most recently, its Childhood Obesity Prevention initiative which promotes the consumption of water through the distribution of 800 reusable water bottles with the slogan More water…Less sugar to 36 schools. On 9 May 2026 the club will host a health fair at the Gouyave Health Centre.
By joining forces with the Ministry of Health during World Immunisation Week, the Rotary Club of Grenada continues to champion service above self and community responsibility.
