The Grenada Meteorological Service is currently monitoring a plume of Saharan Dust.
Synopsis: A thick plume of Saharan dust is making its way across the Atlantic, carried by winds from the Sahara Desert in North Africa. It is expected to affect mainly the extreme southern Windward Islands with Grenada being located near the northern periphery of the plume. Air quality is anticipated to range from moderate to dense starting later today and continuing overnight. This advisory remains in effect from this afternoon through Monday, 23 February.
Forecast for the State of Grenada: Satellite imagery and model data indicate that Saharan dust concentrations will begin to rise later today, peaking overnight. Conditions are expected to start improving by Monday afternoon.
The Met Office will continue to closely monitor the progress of the dust plume.
