- Hoang Anh Tuan is first Honorary Consul of Grenada in Hanoi, Vietnam
- On 28 January, Grenada opened its first-ever consulate in Kampala, Uganda
Though they were not publicly named by Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Andall when he informed Parliament that Grenada has appointed several honorary consuls, internet searches have provided the names of people serving in these diplomatic positions in Uganda and Vietnam.
While contributing to the debate for the 2026 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Andall told the Lower House of Parliament that for the 2025 fiscal year, an honorary consul was appointed in Barbados, in the Republic of Uganda, in Vietnam and in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Andall said that these honorary consuls have put the island in contact with high-worth individuals.
The Barbados Honorary Consul Dr Eric Peters was named in early 2025, while the Guyanese Honorary Consul is Komal Singh. However, an internet search has shown that in August 2025, Vietnam’s Director of the Consular Department congratulated Hoang Anh Tuan on his appointment as the first Honorary Consul of Grenada in Hanoi.
Expressing confidence that the honorary consul will make many practical and effective contributions to the development of friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Grenada, especially consular cooperation, Director Doan Hoang Minh affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant Vietnamese agencies will always stand by and support the Honorary Consul of Grenada in Hanoi to successfully fulfill his duties during his term.
On 28 January 2026, Grenada opened its first-ever consulate in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, after its Honorary Consul Ambassador Samalie Nambooze presented her credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nambooze, 35, presented her credentials to Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, the state minister for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), who represented the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Speaking at the media briefing, Hon. Oryem highlighted the strategic importance of Grenada to Uganda, particularly within multilateral diplomacy.

What are these useless appointments accomplishing and/or going to do for us?
