- Grenada’s next general election is constitutionally due no later than October 2027
- The prime minister can dissolve parliament at any time and call a general election in 21 days
- Upcoming PEO staff retreat to provide better understanding about guiding legislation
Supervisor of Elections Arthur Pierre said the purpose of the upcoming retreat with staff at the Parliamentary Elections Office (PEO) is to provide the opportunity to have a better understanding of the law that establishes the institution, and at the same time engage in customer service sessions.
The Representation of the People Act provides legal guidance for the functioning and operation of the PEO. This legislation provides for the representation of the people in the House of Representatives, for the registration of individuals entitled to vote at elections of members of the House of Representatives, regulates the procedure at such elections, and provides for other matters in connection, pursuant to the Grenada Constitution.
Pierre said the retreat will bring all the registration and assistant registration officers together, where they will have a better understanding of the law. They will also engage in customer service sessions.
The retreat is taking place on the last date for filing claims and objections to the 2025 consolidated list of voters, which was made public on 22 January 2026. A notice in the 16 January Government Gazette said there shall be a 7-day period for claims and objections regarding the list from 22–29 January 2026, and requests “for alterations or corrections of any error in the name, address or polling division of any registered person should be submitted to the Registration Officer of the Constituency” on or before 29 January.
“Everyone, and particularly those who were registered during the quarter, October to December 2025, is advised to inspect the Consolidated List to ensure that his or her name is properly included. The list should be checked to establish whether there is any name included in it that should not be there,” the notice said.
Grenada’s next general election is constitutionally due no later than October 2027, but the Prime Minister, according to the constitution, can dissolve parliament at any time and call a general election in 21 days.
