The Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund (GSDTF), in partnership with the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund, Global Affairs Canada, as part of the Enhanced MPA Management and Monitoring of the Woburn Clarkes Court Bay Marine Protected Area will host 3 stakeholder consultations from Tuesday, 21 October to Thursday, 23 October 2025 with the community, business persons and fishermen of Woburn, St George.

This initiative forms part of the mandate of the Caribbean Organisations for a Resilient Environment (CORE) Project, which aims to increase resilience to climate change of vulnerable groups in 8 beneficiary countries across the Caribbean: Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname. More specifically, project beneficiaries include Caribbean organisations: conservation trust funds, women’s rights organisations, environmental organisations and youth organisations.

The discussions centre on the following stakeholder consultations:

  • Woburn Committee and community on 21 October from 6 pm to 8 pm at Woburn Community Centre
  • Marinas and the business community on 22 October from 6 pm to 8 pm at Clarkes Court Bay Marina
  • Fishermen on 23 October from 6 pm to 8 pm at Woburn Community Centre

The objective of these consultations is to introduce the Enhanced MPA Management and Monitoring of the Woburn Clarkes Court Bay Marine Protected Area (WCCBMPA), which is a flagship project that aims to strengthen management, enforcement, and community engagement. It will address critical gaps in enforcement, zoning, and ecological monitoring. The initiative promotes gender-responsive and climate-resilient marine conservation to protect and sustainably manage Grenada’s marine resources.

The Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund (GSDTF) invites all stakeholders invested in marine conservation to attend these upcoming events. This gathering offers an opportunity for collaboration to advance safeguarding Grenada’s ocean resources. Your presence is crucial in plotting the future of biodiversity in the area.
