The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development confirms that a request for the temporary installation of radar equipment and associated technical personnel at the Maurice Bishop International Airport was received from the Government of the United States of America.

The Ministries of National Security, Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs are carefully assessing and reviewing the request in technical consultations, in coordination with the Grenada Airports Authority and other relevant agencies.

At this stage, the Government of Grenada is carefully reviewing the request in accordance with established national procedures. Any decisions will be made only after all technical and legal assessments are completed.

We wish to assure our citizens that any decision taken will be guided by Grenada’s sovereignty, public safety, and national interest, including the protection of our tourism industry, the travelling public, and the country’s economic well-being.

The Government will continue to keep the public informed as developments unfold.

The same airport they didn’t want us to have. I eagerly await this Government response, the time it takes for the response and the actual response. #SlaveryNeverLeftUs

This is Invasion 2.0. The hangman takes to the gallows those who allow his doings… those that resist will always be the first enemy, and those who sit by are the final witnesses and victims of the ignorance.

This is just another ploy by the imperialist powers to draw a Grenade into a “Coalition of the willing” against Venezuela and Cuba. Grenada need to stay out of this because this could have long-term Negative consequences. Guyna and Trinidad has already fell into that trap, and this would only escalate. This will have absolutely no effect on a local drug situation, could further exacerbate the problem. DON’T believe the hype.

If y’all think trump cares about Grenada then go ahead and let them set up this radar equipment. They want Venezuela oil and they can’t get it so trying to use us to claim they are monitoring drugs in the area oh please! Y’all want problems. The answer is no. It’s not happening. Only thing Trump can do when we deny them is maybe sanction us. Let Grenada continue to remain peaceful please and thanks!

In case the installation of the radars will only be used for monitoring of drugs in the area, think serious consideration should be given to the subject. However, we must receive guarantees this is for peaceful purposes. This matter needs serious considerations.
We cannot afford the radars will be used against our neighbor Venezuela in any offensive manner.. However having a US presence on the island is a plus.

I know this request will sit uncomfortable amongst us Grenadians but, our Prime Minister needs to say to Trump, ” Now here is the deal”..Remove all visa restrictions and tariffs” then we can talk.

I am in full agreement with you. He don’t care who gets hurt ,once he gets his way and getting Grenada involved is not in the interest of Grenadians. Will he femove the visa restrictions on all citizens? It takes two hands to clap.
