The Grenada Office of Creative Affairs (GOCA) is proud to introduce 5 new creative industries subsector associations.

The associations are registered nonprofit companies that will represent the interests of creative practitioners in the subsectors, execute initiatives to develop the subsectors and advocate for the continued strengthening of Grenada’s cultural and creative industries. The new associations were officially introduced at a press conference held on 22 October 2025.

The journey to the subsector associations started at Unleash, Grenada’s national cultural and creative industries conference held in May 2023. “One of the recommendations from Unleash was the formation of associations within the creative sectors that will unify creative practitioners and advocate on their behalf,” explained Orlando Romain, Advisor with responsibility for the Creative Economy. “GOCA did the groundwork over the next two years, hosting numerous stakeholder consultations and eventually engaging technical and legal consultants to guide the new associations through the complexities of the registration process. Additionally, GOCA facilitated governance training for the new boards of directors, positioning them to effectively run their associations.”

The new creative subsector associations represent 5 creative subsectors. While their composition is aligned with GOCA’s segmentation of Grenada’s creative industry, the associations are member-run and governed independently to achieve their objectives. Members from Grenada’s creative community are invited to join the new associations, which are listed below:

  • Innovative Multimedia Association of Grenada (IMAGND) Inc.
  • Grenada Association of Dance, Event Planning, Promotion, Infrastructure, Coordination and Theatre (DEPICT) Inc.
  • Grenada Association of Visual Arts and Craft (GAVAC) Inc.
  • Grenada Gastronomy and Culinary Arts (GGCAA) Inc.
  • Grenada Association of Musicians, Performers and Producers (AMPP Grenada) Inc.

Presidents of the new associations expressed their appreciation to GOCA for providing the technical support that made the associations a reality. They also confirmed their commitment to providing sound representation for their creative colleagues.

Anthony Johnson, president of Grenada Gastronomy and Culinary Arts (GGCAA) Inc., shared, “There’s a lot to be done, but we’re passionate about making an impact. The goal is to raise the standard of food in Grenada, not just in presentation, but in quality, training, and consistency. We want Grenadian cuisine to stand proudly alongside the best in the region.”

Sen. the Hon. Adrian Thomas, Minister for Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, reaffirmed the government’s support for the creative economy. “If we are to achieve our mission of becoming the Caribbean’s premier destination for creative excellence, exploration and exchange, we must implement policies and actions that work in the best interest of our creative practitioners,” Minister Thomas noted at the press conference. “These new associations play a critical role in ensuring that we are fulfilling our mandate to the creative community. I therefore encourage all creatives to become actively involved in their respective associations.”
