As Chairman of the Spicemas Corporation, I extend heartfelt thanks to every individual and institution who contributed to the outstanding success of Spicemas 2025, our nation’s premier cultural festival, celebrated on 11 and 12 August.

From the streets of J’ouvert morning to Monday Night Mas and Pretty Mas, Spicemas once again demonstrated why Grenada’s carnival stands apart. It is, without question, ”The Best Mas’ By Far”.

This year’s celebrations were both vibrant and secure. Informal reports from the Royal Grenada Police Force suggest that the festival was among the safest in recent memory, with only minor incidents quickly managed. We thank the RGPF, emergency responders, and all who worked behind the scenes to keep the public safe. Their coordination allowed thousands to enjoy the festival with confidence.

At the heart of Spicemas are our cultural creatives, masqueraders, designers, panists, producers, DJs, sound engineers, and traditional mas practitioners. Their work gave life to every performance. Congratulations are extended to this year’s finalists and winners across all major competitions: Power Soca, Groovy Soca, Calypso Monarch, Panorama, Queen Show, Kiddies Mas, Traditional Mas, Monday Night Mas, and Road March.

The success of Spicemas 2025 was made possible through strong partnerships:

  • The Government of Grenada, relevant ministries, statutory bodies, and the Grenada Tourism Authority, for their strategic support.
  • The staff of the Spicemas Corporation, for their tireless dedication and professionalism.
  • Law enforcement, emergency services, sanitation workers, transport operators, community organisers, and volunteers, for their reliable service.
  • Sponsors, private sector partners, media, artisans, and vendors, for investing in culture.
  • The diaspora and international visitors, whose participation strengthens the festival’s global appeal.

Together, we have affirmed that Spicemas is more than an event. It is a national achievement and a platform for economic growth, social connection, and cultural diplomacy.

As we celebrate a successful season, we also acknowledge the need for continuous reflection and renewal. The Corporation recognises that the carnival experience, especially on the road, is evolving. We must act to ensure that the festival remains authentic, inclusive, and people-centred.

To strengthen future editions, we see value in developing a structured post-Spicemas review process, subject to resources and partnerships. This could address:

  • Road experience and flow
  • Preservation of traditional mas forms
  • Safety and well-being measures
  • Affordability and access for participants
  • Digital integration of registration and ticketing
  • Environmental sustainability

These are not promises, but commitments to shared responsibility and continuous improvement.

Spicemas 2025 has shown that Grenada continues to set the standard in spirit, safety, and cultural expression. Planning for 2026 begins now, with intention, humility, and unity.

On behalf of the Board and staff, I thank the people of Grenada, our competitors, creatives, visitors, and volunteers. Together, we will continue to build with pride, purpose, and ambition.

“The Best Mas’ By Far” is more than a slogan, it is our truth and our charge to keep.

Spicemas corporation should be revamped starting from the top.nothing has changed bands are starting to late ,shows are too long nothing starts on time.one suggestion is just have jouvert and Monday night mass on Monday and pretty mass all day on Tuesday having all three events on Monday is chaotic not enough time to have all three also shorten the parade route for Monday night mass.the first band didn’t get to the judges until 10.30 pm there should be penalties for late start.people get bored and tired waiting on bands to show up.
