The excitement is building as we recently heard the call of the launch of the test match between West Indies and Australia, to be hosted in Grenada.

This celebration of our cricket culture and heritage will be held from 3–7 July at the National Cricket Stadium.

As anticipation continues to build ahead of the staging of the West Indies vs. Australia matches, the renovations at the National Cricket Stadium are nearly complete for handover.

Located in the capital of St George’s, the National Cricket Stadium is an important feature in our sport tourism and national development. Refurbishment and upgrade works at Grenada’s National Cricket Stadium have steadily neared completion. A major milestone in the upgrade work has been recently achieved with hot-mix asphalt paving works provided by Consolidated Contractors Company Caribbean Inc (CCCCI).

The recent paving upgrades and other refurbishment works add to the excitement of hosting the West Indies matches in July. The renovations for the Grenada National Stadium are aided by the Chinese government and undertaken by the Shanghai Baoye Group. These refurbishments include significant upgrades to the facility provided by the Shanghai Baoye Group and paving works, completed by CCCCI as a subcontractor to the project.

At its current stage, the Shanghai Baoye Group has achieved another important milestone in the renovation project as it has completed the paving rehabilitation works through subcontracted works to CCCCI for hot-mix asphalt supply and repaving.

Managing Director Nelson Louison notes the significant importance of the strong diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Grenada. According to Louison, the refurbishment works are another notable contribution from the People’s Republic of China, with 2025 marking a significant milestone of 2 decades of cooperation and mutual respect between the 2 nations since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations in 2005.

The refurbishment work at Grenada’s National Stadium is another testament to the strength and importance of these important diplomatic relations, with the renovations provided by Shanghai Baoye Group, which has contracted CCCCI to undertake the paving works as part of the renovation project.
