Grenada once again claimed the spotlight at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show in London, securing its 18th Gold Medal and 8 consecutively, cementing the island’s legacy as a horticulture powerhouse.

The team has now amassed 18 gold medals, 5 silver-gilt medals, and 1 silver medal over 24 years of participation.

Located in the Great Pavilion, Grenada’s vibrant and captivating display showcased tropical flora and spices, including nutmeg, cocoa, orchids, heliconias, tulips, anthurium lilies, ginger lilies, shampoo gingers, and lush foliage. Amidst the kaleidoscope of colours stood a cylindrical old mill, representative of the 17th and 18th century old mills in Grenada, as tribute to the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. According to the description featured at the display, the resilience of the sugar mills for over 200 years speaks to the resilience of our sister islands and that of Grenada following Hurricane Beryl in July 2024.

Team Leader Cathy John stated, “I am extremely proud and excited that we could have done this as a tribute to our sister islands. Apart from securing gold, it is our hope that these displays will encourage persons to visit Grenada and enjoy the warmth and beauty of our tri-island nation.”

High Commissioner Rachér Croney commended the passion, ingenuity, and consistency of the team by using flora to highlight Grenada’s history, resilience, and beauty. She stated: “This year’s exhibition not only tells the story of the country’s beauty and rich vegetation, but the resilience of our people — and the innate ability to survive, thrive, excel, and command attention on the world stage. It also highlights our commitment to sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural practices.”

The Chelsea Flower Show features several gardens addressing global challenges like climate change, biodiversity, and resource management. Grenada’s exhibit aligns with these themes, showcasing resilient crops and sustainable land management.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, run by the Royal Horticultural Society since 1913, is the pinnacle of horticultural excellence and is held annually at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The 2025 event showcases innovative designs, global exhibits, gorgeous floral displays, and exclusive shopping, providing the perfect platform with sponsorship from the Grenada Tourism Authority to showcase Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Well done, Team Grenada!
