Project Background
The Caribbean Business Enabling Environment Reform Activity (CBEE-R) is a 3-year regional project in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean (ESC) that aims to assist 5 ESC countries to develop an improved enabling environment for resilient business and investment and engage the private sector in policy assessment, development, and implementation. Those 5 ESC countries include the Bahamas, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Lucia, and Suriname.
Position Description
IDG is looking for a Communications and Visibility Specialist to support the CBEE-R team in showcasing and promoting CBEE-R support, implementation impact, success stories, and lessons learned, and demonstrating visibility of the project activities in ESC and wider.
This position is short-term, and the level of effort will be 30 days within a 7-month period.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Communications and Visibility Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Support the design and implementation of a brief communications and outreach strategy for CBEER in line with CBEE-R’s Branding Strategy and Marking Plan.
- Provide input in designing and implementing communications and outreach activities and specific visibility and outreach campaigns and producing and updating CBEE-R communications materials (printed, online, social media).
- Establish meaningful partnerships and collaboration with the media in all 5 CBEE-R partner countries.
- Document best practices (via articles, success stories, interviews, press releases, etc.) and ensure wide dissemination and visibility of project achievements in the national media.
- Monitor media coverage and provide summaries of main messages covered by the media.
- Draft press releases and compile and update the media kit.
- Draft and design texts, infographics, and visuals for CBEE-R outreach and communications.
- Ensure photo coverage, audio, and video recording of CBEE-R events (in coordination with CBEE-R Events Manager).
- Undertake other tasks related to CBEE-R promotion and visibility as assigned by the Chief of Party.
Reporting
The Communications and Visibility Specialist will report to the CBEE-R Chief of Party.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in dealing with media, communications, marketing, journalism or public relations preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge on effective use of social media, including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, etc.
- The capacity to interact effectively with government officials, local businesses, civil society organizations, NGOs, academia, etc.
- Basic photography and graphic design skills would be an advantage.
- Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and management of social media, etc.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch language is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with international donors preferred.
