The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Grenada Green Group (G3) aimed at enhancing sustainability efforts across the island.

Through the Tourism Enhancement Fund, GHTA will sponsor $40,000 to G3 to support their community-wide plastic waste collection campaign.

This partnership underscores GHTA’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, aligning with its ongoing plastic waste collection initiative among hotels and tourism stakeholders. By collaborating with G3, GHTA aims to amplify the impact of its efforts, fostering a cleaner and more sustainable Grenada.

“Plastic waste is a pressing issue that affects our environment, marine life, and the beauty of our island,” said Arlene Friday, CEO of GHTA. “Through this partnership with Grenada Green Group, we are taking a proactive approach to address this challenge. Our joint efforts will not only enhance our tourism offerings but also contribute to the well-being of our communities and the preservation of Grenada’s natural resources.”

The funding provided by GHTA will enable G3 to expand its plastic waste collection campaign, which engages local communities, businesses, and schools to participate in reducing plastic pollution. The campaign will focus on raising awareness about the importance of responsible waste management and encouraging sustainable practices among residents and visitors alike.

“Collaboration is key to creating meaningful change,” said Mandoo Seales, President of Grenada Green Group. “This partnership with GHTA allows us to continue our initiatives and reach a wider audience. Together, we can make a significant difference in reducing plastic waste and promote a greener Grenada.”

The MOU signing marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for Grenada, highlighting the importance of collaboration between tourism and environmental organisations. GHTA and G3 are committed to working together to promote eco-friendly practices within the tourism sector and beyond.
