In the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Beryl, which severely impacted the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Digicel is proud to announce its commitment to restoring and enhancing internet connectivity across the region.

Having been the first network provider to reconnect mobile services on the islands, Digicel has been worked tirelessly to ensure that both businesses and individuals can access the internet through its mobile network. Recognising the need for robust, fixed-line internet services, Digicel is pleased to announce its support for Grenada’s recovery. This includes:

  1. More than $3 million Investment to fully restore Digicel’s infrastructure on the islands, ensuring that residents and businesses have access to reliable, high-speed internet on both fixed and mobile networks
  2. High-Speed Broadband for Homes, enabling customers to reconnect their homes with broadband speeds of up to 1GBPS, providing the fastest and most reliable internet service available
  3. Support for Local Businesses through Digicel Business’ portfolio of solutions, enabling companies to also benefit from ultra-fast connectivity to support the islands’ economic recovery
  4. Rebuilding Essential Government and Public Services by prioritising the restoration of key government buildings, including schools and other essential services, to ensure these critical institutions are back online as quickly as possible

Finley Jeffrey, Permanent Secretary Responsibility for ICT, Government of Grenada, said, “The islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique were severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl, and we are thrilled to see Digicel’s multimillion-dollar investment deliver ultra-fast, full-fibre broadband in these communities. This multi-million-dollar investment underscores Digicel’s long-term commitment to Grenada and promises substantial economic benefits for the islands.”

Meredith Sharples, Regional General Manager for Digicel Grenada, said, “Hurricane Beryl had a devastating impact on local communities, and our primary focus was on restoring connectivity to keep people better connected to what matters most. Thanks to our team, we swiftly brought mobile service back online, restoring over 94% of cell sites within 4 days. This investment, of over $3 million, into these islands will provide high-speed connectivity for critical government services, local businesses and individuals.”
