In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl’s recent impact on the island, the Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) has taken proactive steps to assess the well-being of its members and provide essential support to affected communities in the north of Grenada.
GHTA CEO Arlene Friday embarked on a mission to visit the north of the island to conduct wellness checks on members affected by the storm. The team also collaborated with member organisation St Patrick’s Environmental and Community Tourism Organisation (SPECTO) to deliver vital supplies to communities devastated by the hurricane.
Arlene Friday emphasised the importance of reaching out to members during this challenging period, stating, “It was so important for us to make contact with our members to hear first-hand accounts of their issues and to support them in their times of need. Additionally, understanding the needs of the community at large is crucial, especially as many farmlands have been destroyed and require immediate support.”

The collaborative efforts between GHTA and SPECTO underscore the commitment of these organisations to provide assistance and resources to those most affected by the recent natural disaster. By coming together to address the urgent needs of the community, GHTA and its partners are demonstrating solidarity and compassion in the face of adversity.
As the recovery process continues in the wake of Hurricane Beryl, GHTA remains dedicated to supporting its members, communities, and the island of Grenada as a whole. Through collective action and unwavering determination, these organisations are working towards a brighter future for all those impacted by this devastating event.
